Southe®n Cross

An Original Song By The Vacation Pirates

We slipped out at dusk with a tide for the southern islands
Canvas pulled tight and the trade winds warm
There’s a line where the twilight meets the black of the ocean
And a man finds out what he’s runnin’ from

In the Southern Cross

There’s a course you can hold till the stars start talkin’,
Where the compass spins but the truth stays still,
I’ve been chasin’ a ghost through a thousand harbors,
And I swear to God that I always will.

In the Southern Cross

I’ve seen how a heart gets lost in the motion,
How a promise fades like a wake in the night,
But there’s somethin’ out here that don’t get broken,
And it pulls me on when I’ve lost the fight.

When that Southern Cross hangs low on the water,
You don’t question why you came this far,
It ain’t about runnin’, it’s about the answer,
Waitin’ out there where the lost things are.

There are spirits that will probably haunt me forever,
No matter how I far I might roam,
And when the southern cross sparkles off of the water,
This broken man wishes for home

I’ve heard her voice sing in the sound of the rigging
Seen her face in the smoke and the rain
There are nights when the weight of the silence gets so heavy
But my heart keeps missing her presence just the same

In the Southern Cross

So I’m sailin’ for tomorrow
my enemies are a-dyin’
And your love is an achor tied to me
tied with a rusty chain

I have my ship
and the black flag is a'flyin
She is all that I have left
and freedom is her name

In the Southern Cross

Hear ye, hear ye…

The crew of Vacation Pirates be proud to unveil a voyage somewhat different from our usual brand of poor decision-makin’…

“THE SOUTHERN CROSS” now sailin’ across all major streamin’ ports.

Now before anyone panics…

No, we haven’t abandoned the rum.

No, we haven’t developed good judgment.

And no, there are still absolutely no plans to become a serious band.

But every now and then, a pirate finds himself alone on the night watch with nothin’ but the stars, the sea, and thoughts he’d rather not be thinkin’.

This be one of those times.

While many a Vacation Pirates tune be concerned with sharks, scurvy, explosions, questionable romance, and generally makin’ a mess of things, “THE SOUTHERN CROSS” sails into deeper water.

This be a tale of distance.

Of memories.

Of things lost that never quite stay behind.

Of a man who discovers that no matter how far he sails, some ghosts always seem to know the way.

Born from the quieter side of the sea, the song follows a sailor beneath unfamiliar stars as he searches for somethin’ he can’t quite name. Maybe redemption. Maybe freedom. Maybe peace.

Or maybe just one more reason to keep sailin’.

Because some voyages begin with a map.

Others begin with a wound.

And sometimes the ocean becomes the only place big enough to carry both.

Now don’t worry…

Nobody learns any valuable life lessons.

Nobody starts a self-help program.

And there’s still a black flag flyin’ before the whole thing’s over.

“THE SOUTHERN CROSS” now be streamin’ wherever music be found.

Go on then… press play.

And if ye find yerself lookin’ out the window afterward…

Well…

That happens sometimes. 🏴‍☠️
